Becoming a member of the
Fareham Clay Target Club.
So your interested in becoming a member of Fareham Clay Target Club, well to
join this unique Club could not be easier. But first I must explain why its a
unique Club and just not a standard Club. In 1963 the small body of men that
owned the ground for private shoots decided to increase the membership for the
purpose of progressing clay shooting.
When friends joined the Club they became a share holder in the ground and its
assets and this practice is still valid to this day. Fareham Clay Target Club is
one of the largest member owned clubs in the country, with the members as the
owners, the club is run by an elected management team each year made up of what
we call working members. The club has several Trustee's, these are long term
members and have all been involved with the running of the club at some stage.
The position of trustee can only be gained on the death or a trustee standing
down, when this occurs a new trustee will be voted in at an AGM held in March
each year.
We then have the officers of the club, President, Vice President, Chairman, Vice
Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a body of volunteer workers that make up the
management team that organise and run the shoots and the day to day running of
the club.
All finances are controlled by the Treasurer and any profits from the shoots all
go back into the running of the club and to increasing the club assets such as
traps, building projects and maintenance. So please remember this club is run by
its members for its members so we therefore have some rules that every member
should consider and stick to at all times. On successful acceptance you will be
given a little blue rule book by the Secretary, please read it carefully and
stick to the rules with-in.
The aim of the founder members and the management teams over the years is to
promote the sport of clay shooting, to have a sporting attitude at all times and
to respect all those around you, but most of all to enjoy the shooting and the
club's surroundings.
Provisional membership can be obtained from the Secretary on the payment of
£30.00 which is non-refundable. On receipt of payment a green card will be
issued, this card will require the signature of one or more of the club's CPSA
safety officers. Depending on safety experience with a shot gun will depend on
how many visits will be required. Once all the boxes are signed the Secretary
will issue a white A4 form to be filled in, this will accompany the green card
to the management meeting held on the first Tuesday of each month. Your
membership will be submitted to the team who will check with the safety officers
that you have been seen to be safe with a shot gun etc. On acceptance a further
fee will be required, normally a proportion payment of whatever months of the
year are left until March when the full £40.00 renewal fee will be due.
Please ask the Secretary about Husband & Wife, Junior and Life memberships.
Having the membership granted will save you any club's green fee's i.e. £4.00
per shoot. You will also be able to attend the club's AGM and vote on any issues
arising concerning YOUR CLUB, enter any of the members only competitions
or members only draws.
