Saturday11th September Simon Jones

Social Evening

16th Aug 2010

Hi All,
Well what a day we had on Sunday for Simon Jones’s fund raiser shoot , the sun shone and a lot of shooters & friends turned up to support the day.
Sporting re-entry was on and it was busy all day but the surprise success of the day was the 2 man driven flush where guns queued patiently to have a go. It was years ago we last put this on and I remember how exciting it was then, so we put this on as a fun stand to help raise a bit of money. Not only was it very enjoyable to shoot it soon became extremely competitive as every one wanted to see if they could shoot better and beat the highest score posted with many teams swapping partners to see if that would work ( sorry Tim for changing you ) and for some it did.
Early scores were 24 ish ex 50, then we had a 35 and it was game on again, then David Farwell and his son had a go and blasted 43 to win the competition outright. We all left with sore shoulders and bruised cheeks as it’s not a stand you can get gun fit correct for each target, it was so much fun and we will be doing it again!
Simon came up to see us on his crutches around lunch time and show us all his damaged foot and what a brilliant job the surgeon has done on it, but it will still take a long time to heal properly.
Simon has done so much for the clay target sport, helping to introduce so many new members to the sport, setting up and clearing away sporting shoots giving up so much of his spare time taking the novices around the sporting courses and helping them under stand the angles and speeds etc.
We were so shocked to hear of his accident we felt it was our time now to help Simon who is self employed get through this difficult time.
This leads to the next fund raising event which you can please put in your calendars and come along.

Sept 11th is a Social night at FCTC Clubhouse where we shall have a bar, food, music and a lot of chat. The idea is to raise some money to keep Simon going during this very difficult time and lift his spirits and the evening highlight will be an Auction of goods and promises which should be very amusing at times.
Please make this a great evening and bring along anything that we can sell to raise as much as we can, it can be anything you have and never used, something you have used and no longer need or anything you can offer. As an idea this is some of the things already promised;

A manicure

An office printer , fax , copy machine

Fishing Rod

One hour ride in a Ferrari 355 GTS

Free M.O.T

Bottles of drink

Etc, etc you get the idea ,

If you have a pledge or an item you can help us with please e-mail me on brian.coupe@lineone.net
Thanks to you all in advance and lets see you there, please forward this to as many people as you think can help.

Brian Coupe, Fareham CTC Treasurer.

Located in 35 acres of Hampshire countryside between Southampton and Portsmouth with convenient access from Junction 9 of the M27, Fareham Clay Target Club is one of Southern England's leading shooting grounds. It is also one of the U.K.'s largest members owned clubs, as the ground and the assets of the club are owned by the members, all the profits from shoots are reinvested back into the club. The club is run by a management team elected by the membership each year at the annual AGM. The clubs facilities include a huge area for parking, a large heated club house with a traditional brick fireplace complete with log burning fire, an entrance ramp for disabled access, seating area for 40 members and visitors, hot/cold meals and beverages from a large commercial style kitchen, permanent fully equipped modern male and female toilets (complete with baby changing area),  colour TV, a small shop selling cartridges, hearing protection and other accessories.

At Fareham we have 2x Automatic Ball Trap layouts, 2x Down The Line layouts, 2x English Skeet layouts and a large English Sporting layout. A five stand pool shoot area and the have a go/practice stand, complete with a choice of guns, hearing, eye protection and all under cover. The club offers clay target shooting in the following disciplines, DOWN THE LINE, AUTOMATIC BALL TRAP, SINGLE BARREL, ENGLISH SKEET, SKEET DOUBLES, ENGLISH SPORTING and ALL ROUND.

All the traps are large automatic static and mobile units. The ABT and DTL layouts are operated on the 'Canterbury' acoustic release system and are under cover.

The English Sporting is set in a large area of woods shooting over two valleys, complete with two high towers, making this a testing layout for the experienced shooter, but still kind to the beginner. The layouts are changed for each sporting fixture. All the traps are magazine fed units on button release.

A five stand pool shoot also operates on all shoot days, so that you can keep your eye in during the breaks of shooting rounds of your favourite discipline . At two pounds per ten (5 x pairs) its great fun even if its raining as the stands are all under cover.

Six CPSA safety officers will ensure your safety at all times.

Cartridge information: 24/28 gram loads only, Plastic/Fibre wad, max shot size No 7. No home loads.

The Fareham Clay Target Club welcomes non-members.
We actively encourage and support people who want to take up clay target shooting or just have a go.
